Persian Cuisine

House of Kebab
Nashville Tennessee

In recent years there seems to have been an increase in Middle Eastern restaurants in Nashville, with several in the Nolensville Rd, Thompson Rd. area, suggesting an increase in the Middle Eastern population in Tennessee. In fact, Nashville was one of the chosen locations in the United States for the Iraqi elections.

House of Kebab, serving Persian cuisine, has been around for about 10 years and is the first Iranian restaurant that I have ever visited. Iranian food seems to be a healthy cuisine with many grilled meats, fresh herbs, and olive oil.

I think that it is unfortunate that many people may avoid trying House of Kebab because of political views or whatever misconceptions they have about Middle Easterners living in the United States. But that is their loss. They are missing the opportunity to try a healthy and flavorful cuisine.

We have quite a bit of Iranian tourists here in Malaysia and Iranian restaurants mushroomed likewise. Kebabs with naan bread are regulars but I appreciate the chutneys/spiced condiments mosts. And to top that off, end with a puff on the Sisa flavoured to your pick. Great that you featured Iranian food back in the US too.

yummy--sounds delish--we don't have any Iranian restaurants in Louisville that I know of, but there are some fabulous non-country-specific Middle Eastern restaurants near me--one with really good quinoa salad and a cooked eggplant dish--mmmm

I really love the little Persian food I have tried, which has been cooked for me by friends. I don't recall having seen any Persian restaurants in my part of England.

Wai: We need more Malaysian restaurants now. I have only been to one so far. That was in Atlanta.

Pur and A: Middle Eastern cuisine is yet another one that I have not mastered cooking at home yet. The rice is never as good and my last attempt at an Iranian stew was hopeless. So, until then, I will just have to travel to Persian restaurants to try it.
